This began as a quick ‘like and share’ post on Facebook. In an effort to ‘Raise Awareness’ in an open group of the same name, I began to write about Rosalina Tuyuc, a humanitarian activist from Guatemala. It soon became apparent to me when I reached 400…500…600 words that this was a little bit of overkill for a Facebook post! So, here we are. And so I begin.

  1. A really powerful and moving article. Even with all the TV and social media available to us now, so much still goes on in the world we don’t know about, or have hidden from us.

  2. Beautifully written and it has awaken an interest to read and learn more. We easily forget, living in our bubble, that this is still going on around us and that we need to unite to prevent further atrocities from keep happening. Well done Liz 🙂 x

  4. And of course the struggle for Mayan self-determination stills continues across the border in Mexico in the form of the EZLN, the Ejercito Zapatista de Liberacion Nacional. It’s tragic, but indigenous people the world over are suffering cultural genocides and in many cases actual genocides.
